I am forever grateful to Maestra Laynah for her leadership during a time of immeasurable vulnerability, before, during, and after the ceremony. She carries a beautiful unpretentiousness - an authenticity and humility that made her presence feel both grounding and deeply supportive.

The ceremony she led allowed me to crack open the construct that was never truly me, but rather a survival mechanism I had developed to navigate and protect myself from the world. Since then, my view of the world has changed profoundly. I continue to do the necessary work to recognize and not retreat into those old patterns.
